My first car show experience. As you see, the few imports were relagated to the back row. I didn't even place. The German's got me!

PHOTOS AND TEXT FOR MINI MANIA MESSAGE BOARD

The photos here are of my Rokee style dash project. I want to create one in the style of the one shown below. As it progresses, more photos will be added.
$400 Retail

Template made of luan wood, fitted to dash with mock up of instrument cluster, glove box and vent holes. (No , I don't have or want a radio)

Instrument cluster removed and cardboard template fitted.
After applying the burl walnut veneer. Note the glue and iron. This is a heat activated glue.
Removed instrument cluster
The same piece as on the left after burl walnut veneer applied. (Not lacquered yet)
These photos do not do justice to the quality of the veneer.
Fitting of instrument cluster before lamination.
At right is the finished project. The panel is held in place by springs attached to the back and secured to the interior of the old cubby hole. This project was designed to be easily removed and returned to original specs in a manner of minutes.

WHEEL PROJECT: The Original wheels are 12" magnesium allow. I decided against powder coating after I saw what could be done with wheel spray paint from Autozone and a clear coat.

Photos show progression from original to after being media blasted to painting then remounting.

Dismounted. Not easily visible are: chips, dents, corrosion, flaking and crummy paint job done in the last millenium...
Why they are being media blasted
After media blasting. The coating left is the original on the bare magnesium. Note: visible is some bondo to cover corrosion in the wheel.

No, not my engine. This is a highly modified mini race engine
that will set you back 4or 5K. If you wish to buy or donate one to me, please email...

Valve cover, coated "wet-black" with new chrome nuts
Powder coating done by Hy-Tech coatings located in Piney Flats, Tn. I didn't get a discount, so no plugs.... but you ought to see what they can do with wheels!
